Io suggerirei queste, però tenete conto che quando si intervista qualcuno molte domande nascono al momento dalle risposte. Se sono troppe scegliamo quelle più interessanti.

L'attore di colore che, se non sbaglio, interpreta Roadblock assomiglia vagamente a Michael Jai White ma non credo sia lui (anche se proprio questi ha girato il film indipendente simil fan-movie dedicato a Mortal Kombat http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6s6UiEuCYXA);
certo che pochi minuti di questo corto mettono più adrenalina del disastroso "filome hollywoodiano" del 2009!

1) Did You Like G.I. Joe:The Rise Of Cobra? Din't you? if not what aspects of Rise of Cobra makes you unsatisfied?


MC: I was happy that ROC introduced the franchise to a new generation of kids!! My next door neighbor is 8 years old and listening to him tell me about Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow's mysterious history was very satisfying! And the movie seemed to spur new, cooler toys and comic books! So I was happy in that way. For myself though I was left longing for something closer to what I remembered, closer to what I fell in love with. The costumes were lacking, and the team dynamics and character histories were not there. I was definitely left wanting more.



2)Why did you make a GI JOE Fan Movie so focused on realism?


MC: I played with GI Joe toys when i was 8 years old. I read the comic books until my teen years and loved them especially the Special MIssions series from Marvel. Then I started to grow up. In my late teens, i fell in love with war movies - Saving Private Ryan, Black Hawk Down, the Band of Brothers series. I developed a deep respect for the men and women in the armed services. Then I realized that it had all started with GI Joe- It was the original seed to all of this and I realized that although the GI Joe franchise had never been portrayed this way to me, I had always thought of it in other shows and movies that did have a gritty level of realism.


Maybe because you didn't like the "cartoon like" style of Rise of Cobra?


MC: But i did love the cartoon! but that's for kids and I'm an adult now! Although i did include a lot of tracer fire in my movie as an homage to the lasers that fired non-stop in the cartoon!


Any Expectation on the new GIJOE movie that will come up in JUne?


MC: I remain positive about it!! A new director, cool actors, I think it will be fun. I will see it either way!! GI Joe is in my blood still!


3)I've got the chance to watch many Fan films such as "Star Trek Phase II" and I could say that thanks to technologies the fans can give life to their favorite characters avoiding "the Hollywood market" which often distorts the original storyline. What do you think about the fan films? Is this a new era of cinema?


MC: I completely new era!! Now, if you don't like what you saw in the theater, you can just film what you had envisioned! And it's important to give credit to the creators of the original characters for letting fans share their films!!


4)Did you ever heard something about "Dark Resurrection", which is the Italian Star Wars fan movie?


MC: No, but i'm going to go watch it now. brb. Okay i just watched it. Cool!


5)Let's talk about your movie: What inspired you the most? Marvel Comics, a more realistic view of Sunbow's Carton or a particular own view of the GIJOE universe?


MC: It was the early Real American Hero series by Marvel especially around the issues below #100. that's what drew me in! The Special Missions series was also a favorite- often times they'd put a small team of Joes in real world scenarios like airplane hijackings!


6) Do you think that thanks to your Fan movie might come up new opportunities for you?


MC: Possibly! I definitely hope so! Making a fan film is definitely my recommended way for any filmmaker to get exposure. I made a sci-fi movie 4 years ago. it won a fair share of awards at film festivals and was later distributed by IndiPix. But in the first week of my GI Joe trailer, more people had seen my work than the entire year i spent promoting that sci-fi film!! There's a built in audience!


7) Who is the screenwriter? Who are the main characters of your Movie?


MC: Roadblock, Flint, Beachhead, and Snake Eyes are the main characters. Those are my favorites whose costumes I could actually make/assemble. There are few other cameos too- 1 or 2 were in the trailer! Zartan is a favorite too and I am especially proud of how he turned out on screen!!


What does represent GI JOe for you? Any memories about them?


MC: Never give up, stay 'till the fight's won. That's their motto and I subscribe to that philosophy on some many levels in so many ways - being a father, husband, filmmaker, brother, citizen, artist, and when i play nintendo. I remember lying on the floor with my GI Joes, transformers, He-man, and Thunder Cats figures. I'd line them all up together on one side. It didn't matter that they were from different worlds, different universes, and different scale sizes. The only thing that matters what they were good, and they were about to defeat evil

Ho avuto l'onore di vedere in anterpima il Fan MOvie di mark cheng
Ho scitto anche una recensione in anteprima che posterò sui principali forum internazionali per aiutarlo nella pubblicizzazione nel suo lavoro.
Io ora purtroppo non ho tempo materiale per tradurre, sia l' intervista sia la review. Se qualcuno potesse farlo gliene sarei grato e sarebbero gratianche gli utenti che l'inglese non lo masticano.



I had the opportunity to watch the premiere of "GI Joe Operation RED Retriveal", the latest fan Movie directed and produced by Mark Cheng. The characters in this movie are Beachhead (Joe Barbagallo), Snake Eyes (Snake Eyes Stunt team: Raymond Blong, Johhny Karzai and Jeff Orens), Flint (Matt Hayek), Roadblock (Alex Jones), Hawk (Nathan Faudree), Stalker (Brian Gregory), Storm Shadow (Bobby Lee) and the Master of Disguise Zartan (Mack Kuhr).

Their mission consists of finding and rescuing Scarlett who is held prisoner by the Cobra Organization in their underground Cobra bunker with the help of mole agent Bofficles (Chris Miskiewicz), a GI Joe undercover agent sent to join Cobra's security team and help the joes infiltrate the cobra base.
After they infiltrate the cobra bunker the mission becomes a race against time, filled with gun fights and combat scenes untill something highly unexpected changes their plans, putting their mission in jeopardy. This is a cool action movie focused on realism and aimed at the real GI Joe fans. It's very well directed and the storyline looks predictable only at the first glance but it's not! It's filled with the right amount of violence and all the fighting scenes are performed really well by stunt man, Raymond Blong, a martial artist trained in Shaolin Kung Fu.
All the actors do their job very well with the exception of Bofficles (Chris Miskiewicz) whose performance didn't quite conviced me. Maybe it was intentional but his way of acting sometimes appears as if he isn't into his role of mole agent. This is only my opinion.
All the costumes are simple but very effective. I could finally recognize every gi joe character- an important thing in a GI Joe movie, not like what happened to me when I saw Rise of Cobra where every character looks the same. The enthralling music is custom-made and is composed so well that it pulls you into the action, and gives more adrenaline to all the scenes.
Thanks to Mark Cheng, I finally had the chance to see a Real GI Joe movie ! I strongly recommend it to all the Joes fans. This fan movie is definitely proof that Hollywood Market doesn't know anything about our heroes and just wants to make money. Please Mr. Bonavetura.... you should learn from all the GI Joe fans how to make a real GI Joe movie.
